Paints that are purely mineral, with no harsh chemicals and no outgassing.

Mineral paints and finishes are the ideal choice for fine art and priceless relics. These finishes contain no VOCs or plasticizers, so they do not release harmful gases or contaminate indoor air during or after installation. When the paint is wet, only water evaporates, leading to virtually no odors. Keim mineral paints can be used in occupied spaces without worry about noxious smells or harmful fumes. Once dried, the paints are inert and will not undergo further reactions. They are highly resistant to acids and alkalis, and since they have no plasticizers, there is no risk of residual “stickiness” that can occur with plasticizer migration in fresh latex and acrylic paints, even after they have dried.

Paint that contains no plastic, only natural mineral pigment, quartz fillers and mineral silicate binder.

Most ordinary paints are acrylic (latex) and are made from petrochemicals derived from fossil fuels. They are based on thermo-plastic binders, synthetic additives, biocides, and natural and man-made pigments. These highly refined additives can migrate from the finish for weeks and adhere to delicate artifacts and fine art, even weeks after application.

Acrylic paints also contribute to the massive amount of microplastics in the environment. Making these paints is carbon intensive, contributing to the climate crisis.

Innostar® Interior Mineral Paint from Keim contains no plasticizers or harsh ingredients. While the paint dries, only water evaporates and once dry it is completely inert, like stone. It will not emit gasses or noxious odors. Precious art and artifacts can be displayed immediately without concern of harmful effects from the fresh paint.

Parsons Healthy Materials Lab certifies Innostar as a Healthier, Affordable Building Product and a Low Embodied Carbon Material. And the Cradle to Cradle Products Institute® certifies it gold for material healthy.

Minerals are odorless and harmless

Mineral silicate paints are odorless, in their containers, and on your walls. No odors or harmful gasses are emitted before, during or after you apply the paint. Paint that is completely safe and pleasant to use even in inhabited spaces like galleries and museums. Odors and unpleasant emissions from latex and acrylic paints can cause headaches and potentially worse respiratory symptoms in users and inhabitants alike.

Pure mineral beauty—a visual difference.

Paints that radiate light in a most uncommon way

KEIM paints create a unique finish with millions of microscopic pores. The water-clear mineral silicate quartz binder creates a “crystalline matrix” where each grain of pigment is exposed to the light source free of interference. Ordinary acrylic paints embed the pigment in a milky, smooth layer so colors can be muted, while the smooth finish can glare in directional lighting, even in a flat finish. Mineral paints radiate light with a luminous quality, and the matte flat finish never glares, even in severe “raking” lighting. Depth of color is incomparable
