PEIR 53 FIRE HOUSE, NEW YORK, NEW YORK

The Pier 53 Firehouse, located in Manhattan, New York City, is a historic firehouse built in 1899. Designed in the Romanesque Revival style, it features distinctive architectural elements like a bell tower and a carriage room. The firehouse played a crucial role in protecting the city’s waterfront during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

From Keim:

KEIM was recommended to the architect as a product that could be custom matched to the desired color while providing excellent weathering performance. We met on site, and it was decided to coat both the base walls and the curb walls of the building. Silan 100 was included in the specification, which outlined the need for cleaning the new concrete, applying Silan 100, and using Concretal-W Grob followed by Concretal-W Topcoat. Challenges included the product’s proximity to water and exposure to weathering.
