CHARLESTON COUNTY COURTHOUSE, CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA
The Charleston County Courthouse, a significant landmark in the city’s historic district, stands proudly at the “Four Corners of Law.” Originally built in 1753 as the provincial capitol and later reconstructed in 1792, this Neoclassical structure has served as a center for legal activity for centuries. Its architecture, influenced by James Hoban, the designer of the White House, reflects its importance and connects it to significant periods in American history. Today, the courthouse continues to house court and county government functions, a testament to its enduring role in the Charleston community.
From Keim:
WXProofing, now part of WXTite, meticulously undertook the restoration of the Charleston County Courthouse and a separate Blake Tenement building behind it, utilizing KEIM Soldalit paint in a custom-matched color, applied with dilution. George from Keim attended a pre-construction meeting in April, and thorough adhesion tests were conducted after the initial mock-up and throughout the paint installation process to ensure quality. On both the Charleston County Courthouse and the Blake Tenement building, KEIM Grob was used to address cracks in the stucco surface before the entire designated area was coated with Soldalit. This careful application of KEIM products demonstrates a commitment to preserving these historic structures with breathable and durable mineral coatings.
