DESIGN LASUR/STAIN
Int/Ext Pigmented Transparent Mineral Stain
Design Lasur/Stain is an exceptional, sol-silicate, mineral pigmented, transparent finish and glaze that can be used for a wide range of decorative and artistic finishes, as well as a vivid and long-lasting color stain for larger concrete and masonry surfaces, both indoors and outdoors. Unlike mineral silicate paints, Design Lasur is thinner-bodied, which allows it to deeply penetrate and form permanent chemical bonds while providing ultimate vapor permeability.
When mixed with Design Fixative/Dilution Clear, Design Lasur can achieve almost any level of transparency, whether you want mostly solid colors or a light veil of color. Our artist-grade pigments are super finely ground and blended to ensure exceptional appearance. Design Lasur is the most universal decorative mineral finish available and is perfectly suited for use over any Keim mineral silicate paint base coat.

How the Lasur/Stain System Works
Design Lasur is two-component system that include Design Lasur (Colored Part) and Design Fixative ( Clear Part)
- Select your Design Lasur color. You may select from monochrometone, single chroma artist colors, or most tinted colors. The Design Lasur is fully opaque and concentrated. It may be applied without dilution to produce solid colors, but the thin and deeply penetrating features of Design Lasur does not alter the “feel” or texture of your surface. The surface will appear “dyed” and not “painted” to the selected color, but the surface texture is unchanged.
- How much transparency do you want ? Mix Design Lasur with Design Fixative/Dilution clear to increase the transparency of the stain. You choose just the right amount of color. Mock-ups are recommended to determine the proper mix ratio for your needs. Mix as little or as much Fixative/Dilution with Design Lasur stain. It keeps the quality of the finish the same. You are mixing clear binder with the Design Lasur stain – no the properties of the stain are not “diluted”. Never dilute with water.
- Apply the diluted, transparent stain to porous masonry, concrete, stucco, plaster, drywall, and mineral paint surface. Two coats are recommended to ensure weather resistance and color retention.
Create varied transparent hues from a single color
Design Lasur colors are highly concentrated, using highly refined mineral oxide pigments. The super-fine artist pigments allow the stain to be used from solid color all the way to just a hint of color. And you can trust that Design Lasur/Stain will never develop “grainy” colors, no matter how translucent you make it. Below is a representation of Design Lasur, color 9550, diluted at various ratios (seen below) with the first number Lasur and the second number clear Fixative, applied over a plaster finish.
